Located in Nancun Town, Panyu District, Guangzhou, Yu Yin Shan Fang was first built in 1867 (the sixth year of the Tongzhi reign of the Qing Dynasty) and completed in 1871 (the tenth year of the Tongzhi reign).
Yu Yin Shan Fang is a national key cultural relics protection unit and a national outstanding modern architectural unit, reflecting its high historical and scientific value. It has been successively designated as a “Guangzhou Patriotic Education Base,” a “Guangzhou Anti-Corruption Education Base,” a “National AAAA-level Tourist Attraction,” and a “Guangzhou Historical Garden.” It is one of the “Four Famous Gardens of Guangdong,” along with Liang Garden in Foshan, Ke Garden in Dongguan, and Qinghui Garden in Shunde. As the only one of the four gardens that has largely preserved its original appearance, and with its architectural features of “concealing the essence and miniaturizing the details,” it is hailed as a representative work of Lingnan classical gardens, a hall for people to appreciate the spirit of the Cantonese literati, experience the art of Lingnan garden architecture, and explore local folk culture.
Yu Yin Shan Fang covers a total area of approximately 14,000 square meters and consists of the original cultural relics, Shan Yan Wu Gong Ancestral Hall, Yu Yin Garden, Yu Garden, and later expansions such as the rear garden, Wen Chang Garden (Qian Ju Wu Gong Ancestral Hall), Ling Gui Pond, and the North Gate Tower. It is equipped with facilities such as parking lots, bus terminals, and visitor centers.
